Biography
Andrew Grech was born on the 9th December 1973. He received his education at Stella Maris College before graduating in Business & Computing at the University of Malta.
During this period of studies at the University of Malta, Andrew also spent two years working at Air Malta as a member of cabin crew. As part of this work, Andrew received full training on cabin emergency procedures and basic first aid.
After graduating, Andrew moved on to a management career in the Information Technology sector.
In the year 2000, he joined the family business, where he is employed as a manager and director in two companies involved in the manufacturing and distribution of paints.
In 2003, Andrew returned to studying at the University of Malta where he read for a Masters degree in Business Administration.
Andrew’s involvement in the St. John Rescue Corps started at the age of twenty when he joined as a volunteer with the Cliff Rescue Division. Andrew received all his rescue training within the Division. In 1996 he was appointed Senior Section Leader and in 1998 he was appointed Divisional Officer and Officer Commanding of the same Division. During this time, Andrew also qualified as an instructor both in Rescue and First Aid.
For a short while during his second period of study at the University, Andrew transferred to the reserve list of the Corps so as to concentrate on his studies. However, he was recalled to full activity some months later and appointed as Staff Officer, Operations, a role which he held until February, 2006 when he was appointed to the new role of Staff Officer, Training and Development.
