Captain the Chevalier Reuben Lanfranco,

Captain Reuben Lanfranco was born on 2nd December 1965 and attended the St. John Ambulance First Aid course in July 1982 (Cert. No. 163635) whilst a member of the St. Aloysius College Scout Group.  In 1988, Capt. Lanfranco was posted to Germany for training with the German Navy and this was where he started participating in various activities of the German Johanniter Unfall Hilfe and the Malteser.  In 1989, he was asked by the then Commander of St. John Ambulance (Malta), Colonel (later Brigadier) C. M. Gaffiero if he was interested in assisting the latter as Public Relations Officer at SJA Headquarters; an offer which he immediately accepted.

Lieutenant Lanfranco, was appointed Staff Officer Grade V, (Headquarters Staff), in Malta on the 1st January 1992, shortly after his return from overseas posting.  In March 1993 and March 1996, he attended the German Katastrophenschutzschule in Bad Neuenahr, Ahrweiler together with members of the St. John Rescue Corps where he also acted as course interpreter.  He was promoted to Staff Officer Grade IV on 26th February 1997 and appointed Acting Transport Officer for St. John Ambulance (First Aid & Nursing) in addition to his duty as Public Relations Officer.         

Captain Lanfranco was admitted into the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem as a Serving Brother on 24th September 1997 and was promoted to Officer Brother on 13th July 2005. He was promoted to Assistant Commissioner (First Aid & Nursing) on 28th October 1997.  Captain Lanfranco reintroduced the SJA Watermanship Badge Courses for St. John Ambulance in Malta in 1999 and is also Chief Instructor for the Course.  He has also been awarded the Service Medal of the Order.

Captain Lanfranco was transferred to the St. John Rescue Corps in June 2004 where he assumed the responsibilities of Deputy Corps Commander as Assistant Commissioner (Rescue). On the 31st January 2006 he took over as acting Corps Commander and on 3rd April 2006 was promoted to the rank of Commissioner (Rescue) and appointed Corps Commander.
